Carmichael is an unincorporated residential suburb of the Greater Sacramento Metropolitan Area. It is governed by the Sacramento County, Board of Supervisors. He named the region Carmichael Colony Number 1 and Carmichael Colony Number 2, respectively. Daniel Carmichael plotted the land and sold the lots for residential development.

Carmichael is a census-designated place (“CDP”) in Sacramento, County and part of the Sacramento-Arden-Arcade-Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
