Delano is located in California’s Central Valley, in Kern County. Shortly thereafter, the National Farm Workers’ Association, led by Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, joined the Agricultural Workers strike. During the strike, the two groups joined forces and formed the United Farm Workers of America.

The Delano grape strike and boycott eventually led to a nation–wide boycott of California-grown table grapes. By 1970, after strikes, boycotts, a 300 mile march, and a 25-day fast by Cesar Chávez, the UFW succeeded in reaching a collective bargaining agreement with California grape growers, affecting over 70,000 farm workers.
